Call Team

Inspirational Businesses and their People.....

Call Team is ran and managed by a fellow Mumpreneur (Lyndsey McKendry) who not only set up her own business providing a professional and efficient service, she also juggles the task with the ever tying role of motherhood.

Here is what her business can offer you........

Did you know that 1 in 10 callers who hear an answering machine hang up?

You could be missing out on calls while you are working, travelling, in meetings, away on holiday or simply trying to get some work done.  Can you really afford to lose out on these important calls?

Whether you are a small business owner or part of a larger organisation, missing that important call can be costly to your business.  Call Team provides an excellent service to businesses so that they never miss these important calls and that their clients speak to a person instead of voicemail.

Let us answer your calls for you, our experienced team will answer with your company name, portraying a professional image, and allowing callers to believe that they are talking to a member of your team.

www.CallTeam.co.uk is an Intelligent Call Handling service ensuring business owners or those that work from home don’t lose important calls.  Call Team enables you to have your calls answered by a team of professional and friendly VAs when you are either out of the office, in meetings or generally trying to concentrate on getting work done without interruptions.

Our team of experienced Virtual Assistant professionals, work together to provide a very high standard of call answering for our clients.  Our team of Virtual Assistants have experience up to PA level, and will add value to your business.

How does it work?

The system used is a VOIP PBX and each client is issued with their own unique telephone number to divert to.  The client’s name then pops up on our screen when calls are received and callers are greeted by our team of experienced handlers in your company name.  All necessary details are taken and your messages are relayed to you instantly via email and/or SMS.  The telephone number can also be advertised and Call Team will answer all calls, and be the first port of call for your customers.

You provide us with some basic profile information on your company, and when your client’s ring your number they are greeted by our team of experienced call handlers, who answer the phone in your company name.  Your caller will be informed that you are not available and they will be asked to leave a message.  All the necessary details are taken and your message is relayed to you instantly via email and/or SMS.

The cost for this service is only £20.00 per month and includes 5 free calls, with additional calls being charged at just £1.00 each or £1.20 if you receive an SMS.

To get a better understanding of how it all works why not take a week’s free trial?  The sign up form can be found on our website (www.callteam.co.uk/sign-up) and we can have you set-up within 30 minutes of receiving the completed form from you.

Plans and Presents

Today's Inspirational Business and their people is.......

My name is Alison Tinlin and my business is Plans and Presents, a Wedding and Event Planning business based in Glasgow, but serving Scotland and further a field.

I have been married to Neill for nearly 7 years and have two children, Kathryn, 5, and Leo, 2.  I started my business nearly 2 years ago, after a long time researching and considering the possibility.  My background is in Nursing, and I worked in Medical Admissions for 14 years.  After having my children and unfortunately redundancies on my husband’s part, I decided to branch out on my own, as the opportunities for parents in the working world with childcare limitations are few.

The last two years have really been about cementing my knowledge and creating a supplier network, and building up my name within the events industry. Every day is a challenge while trying to maintain work / life balance and juggling business with care of my son, BUT I wouldn't do anything else as in this industry I get the support and respect that I never ever got in my many years in the NHS.

I was very lucky to be short listed recently for Best Wedding Planner at the Wedding Ideas awards and it was perhaps my greatest achievement, after marrying the man that I love and having my gorgeous kids.

I have a great support network with the Scottish Mumpreneur Network and have met and become friends with many inspiring ladies who do an amazing job in building fantastic businesses whilst balancing this with parental responsibility, and I wouldn't be without them as they spur me on in difficult times.

My work ethos is that Plans and Presents is about delivery, working with clients, in whatever nature or involvement that is, to make their Event amazing.  I believe that each celebration is about the couple, it is their day, and they always retain "ownership" of their day.  I just see myself as a their guide, counsellor, and advisor.

Statistics show that it can take up to 250 hours to plan a Wedding.  These days’ people can have the commitments of work, raising children and running a home, and that can make planning a Wedding a bit of a challenge.

My main aims can be split into three distinct areas.

Save you time
·         My job is to act as a personal Event P.A.
·         I will do all the legwork, such as doing the research, making the calls, negotiating, and taking care of all the little details.
·         With so much choice and possibilities it’s easy to become overwhelmed i.e. What photographer? Is this venue right for us?
·         My job is to bring everything back to complete clarity.
·         With my contacts within the Events Industry, I have access to a multitude of fabulous suppliers, therefore making me well placed to assist clients with choosing suppliers that are right for their needs.

Save you money
·         Weddings and Events can be expensive, there's no doubt about it.
·         A planner such as myself can actually save a client money through discounts obtained from contacts in the industry.
·         I specialise in working within the clients set budget, and strive to work my fee into this through savings made.

Save you stress
·         Sometimes organising a Wedding or Event can seem like an enormous and impossible task.  My job is to be right there to lend support, whenever and in whatever way that it’s needed.
·         This can mean emotional support, as well as practical help.
·         I pride myself on being a people person with a really good ear.

In conclusion, the message I am trying to project is that a Wedding and Event Planner is not just the luxury for celebrities, or the well off, but real people who need someone to to make their special day, unique and distinctive.

I am someone who is professional and approachable, and my job in essence is to be an AFFORDABLE REASSURANCE.

Wedding and Baby

Inspirational Business People
Louise launched Wedding and Baby back in Jan 2009 and is gaining recognition from wedding industry experts for providing a range of vintage inspired headbands, combs, tiaras and jewellery. Wedding and Baby was also shortlisted in The Bridal Magazine Awards for Best Accessory supplier of the year 2010.
In the beginning, Louise Graham decided to build her business by working with extremely talented designers to establish her business. This decision was purely due to her time commitments being limited as she cared for her young son. However as a Product designer to trade (having graduated from Napier University Edinburgh with a BSc Hons in Industrial Design) it wasn’t long before Louise’s creativity was bursting to get hands on again – so she launched her own range of tiaras, headbands and jewellery in Sept 2009. Around this time she also gained recognition for X – Factor contestants which resulted in her designs being worn to the premiere of Shrek 3D in June 2010.
Within a year and a half in business Wedding and Baby have launched a wholesale option, allowing the designs to be available to try on in bridal boutiques throughout the country. Already within a month of setting this up Louise has stockists eager to stock her designs.
Louise focuses on vintage inspired pieces with a twist. Her work is renowned for being more than just a wear once accessory. In fact many of her designs can be converted into a brooch and worn again. As well as the website, Louise offers appointments in Scotland as well as phone consultations for bespoke orders.
The Spring/Summer 2011 collection is causing a stir with the media. As always Vintage is the essence of the collection, although this season sees more fabric and feathers. You can be sure to see Louise’s designs gracing Bridal magazines and Wedding T.V programmes throughout 2011.
What makes Louise and Wedding and Baby, more inspirational is that she has not only gained huge respect with Wedding and Baby, but has done this whilst maintaining a full time job as a Technology Teacher, founding and running the local Scottish Mumpreneurs network, building a further business (Charming Angels) and not forgetting raising her son!

Iain Dawson Architecture

Inspirational Businesses

The first person who inspired me on my journey to self-employment has to be my Dad.

He set up his own business, first as a building contractor and then specialised in providing architectural services.  Like many businesses he overcame many a hurdle to build up the strong and reliable service it provides today.

Watching him taught me the value of hard work and necessity to provide prompt and efficient customer service.

Renfrewshire Wedding Directory

Ok, so the Directory has been up and running for 10 weeks now so maybe it’s about time I gave you a sneak peek into my background and what made me set up in business.

I grew up in a small village in the West Coast of Scotland, (Tayvallich).  It’s a very small picturesque place which provided me with vast amounts of freedom and ability to let my imagination run wild.  Due to its local the area boasts a number of talented artists and I had the pleasure during my High School heats to be taught Art by the contemporary Artist Jolomo that coupled with my very creative Gran, set me off with the arts and crafts bug.

As a teenager I was very unsure what I wanted to do with my life so I packed myself off to study a BA in Hospitality Management in Glasgow.  This provided me an excellent grounding in the business world and gave me the confidence to pursue a ‘career’.  After graduation I quickly realised the Hotel business was not for me and took a position within a Ten Pin Bowling Alley to re-consider my options.  Little did I know how well I would fit into the job and at 23 I was made General Manager and handed the keys!

I successfully managed this business for 6 years before settling down to have a family, unfortunately, shortly after the birth of my first daughter the company went into administration and I was eventually paid off along with the 36 staff in my care.  This proved a turning point in my career when the realisation of a my needs no longer fitted snugly into my chosen industry.

Taking some time out and having further daughter gave me time to consider my options and self-employment seemed very attractive way to balance being a mum whilst still earning a crust.  This decision to leave ‘paid’ employment led to the inception of i-craft, where I tried my hand at a few things before settling on producing handcrafted stationery and cakes.  This business bowled along nicely for a couple of years allowing my daughters to get up in age a little and about 10 months ago I decided to take it up a notch with the view to earn a proper living.  By coincidence at this time I met a group of Mum’s in a similar position to myself and gained their support and advice which gave me the confidence to really push the business.

At the tail end of last year with businesses really warming up I had a very proud moment when i-craft was short listed for Stationery Designer of the year by the Bridal Magazine, and although I didn’t win the overall award, I did revel in the knowledge that I was chosen as one of the 5 companies within the UK for this category.

In addition to the busy end of year for i-craft, I was also watching my brother organising his wedding in Renfrewshire and listening to his frustrations on finding local suppliers easily.  This coupled with my own experience as a supplier of finding brides gave me my light bulb moment to create the Renfrewshire Wedding Directory.  This allows brides to specifically focus on the Renfrewshire Area when looking for suppliers and services.

By the time all my research and web design was completed the Directory was launched at the end of November 2010 and although it is early days for the Renfrewshire Wedding Directory I have been overwhelmed by the support from local suppliers and brides and have been pleasantly surprised in the traffic coming to the site.

As for the future, who knows, I have a million and one ideas and aspirations for both businesses and hopefully you will continue to follow and support me as I go on my journey…….

Thank You

Irene McNamee
